YEREVAN. – The relevant agencies of Armenia’s state governance are willing to assist the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in all humanitarian-oriented initiatives.
The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan—who is also Chairman of the Armenian State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons—said the abovementioned at his talk Wednesday with head of the ICRC Delegation to Armenia, Caroline Douilliez, and newly appointed ICRC Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Patrik Vial.
The objective of this talk was to discuss cooperation between the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia and the ICRC delegation, and to outline future joint projects, informed the MOD press service.
The ICRC delegates, for their part, appreciated the contribution of Armenian state authorities to the aforesaid commission, and thanked for the high level of collaboration and representation.
The Armenian defense minister, in turn, noted that the Azerbaijani authorities’ misinformation, with respect to the imaginary numbers and mass burial places of those that had gone missing during the Karabakh War, and the Azerbaijani authorities’ irresponsible accusations made against the Armenian party are intended to mislead the international community and deepen the anti-Armenian sentiments within the Azerbaijani society.
In closing, Seyran Ohanyan thanked the ICRC and its representation in Armenia for the high-level cooperation.
