The official website of Quebec’s National Assembly has issued a petition urging to make the study of Genocide compulsory in Quebec high schools curriculum.

The petition calls on the National Assembly and the Minister of Education to make the study of Genocide compulsory in all Quebec high schools “as a means to creating a tolerant and peaceful society which is accepting of all cultures and religions,” Horizon Weekly reports.

According to the petition, it is necessary to consider the significant number of Quebec students who know nothing of past or present genocides, including the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide and Rwandan Genocide.
