YEREVAN. – U.S. Embassy in Armenia has issued a statement on the incident with a suicide attempt near the Embassy.

A 38-year-old man on Wednesday tried to commit suicide at the US Embassy in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

“Yesterday, Embassy security staff observed an individual making an unauthorized intrusion onto the Embassy compound. The Embassy security staff quickly secured the compound, apprehended the individual, determined that he seemed to be disturbed, and turned him over to the Armenian police. We thank the Armenian authorities for their swift and effective response and are continuing to closely coordinate,” the Embassy said in a statement.
