YEREVAN. – If we observe the Nagorno-Karabakh issue from the international dimension, we would see that the threat of a full-scale war is not so real.
Russian Armenian political scientist Andranik Migranyan told the aforesaid to reporters, and within the framework of the 3rd International Forum of the Graduates of Moscow State Institute of International Relations, which kicked off Friday in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.
He stated this reflecting on the query as to the objective of Azerbaijan’s most recent provocations along the Line of Contact of the Karabakh conflict.
In his words, the major regional powers—that is, Russia, Iran, and with some reservations, also Turkey—are not interested that a new source of a large-scale war is created in this region, which is quite unstable due to the ongoing events nearby Syria and the Middle East.
“Neither the US nor France and EU will support it, and they have real leverages of pressure to prevent military actions,” Migranyan stressed. “This notwithstanding, we recently hear loud statements from the Azerbaijani leadership. [But] I believe this is done for domestic use. Of course everyone knows that [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev’s rule is extremely corrupt.”
Andranik Migranyan added that a monarchy is established in Azerbaijan, and there is no trace of democracy in this country.
