YEREVAN. – It is very important for the Eurasian Economic Union to remain open for other countries, managing director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Natalia Khanjenkova said.

Just as other regional alliances that aim to achieve free movement of capital, services, goods and people, the EAEC may contribute to the development of trade between the participating countries, especially now when international trade is going through hard times, EBRD managing director for Turkey and Central Asia added.

“It is the regional alliances that can become a symbol of trade promotion. What advantages is Eurasian Economic Union providing to its members? Firs of all, the removal of non-tariff barriers and enhancing infrastructure. The second advantage, of course, is expanding the market for manufacturers. This is particularly important for innovative production,” EBRD representative said during the forum of MGIMO graduates in Yerevan.

The most important, in her view, is the issue of attracting investments, while deeper integration would improve the economic institutions of the member states.
