The participation of four countries in the talks on Syrian crisis normalization in Vienna, is not enough for ensuring effective foreign support to inter-Syrian talks, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said in the follow-up to the talks with his colleagues from U.S., Saudi Arabia and Turkey held in Vienna.

In his words, the “support group” could be made up of a dozen of participants.

“Today’s four is not at all the four, which usurps all its efforts. Moreover, we started and finished our discussion and the meeting with this [issue]: these four countries are evidently insufficient to ensure the effective foreign support to the inter-Syrian talks,” Lavrov said, RIA Novosti reports.  

According to him, the group should include all the permanent members of the UN Security Council – not only Russia and U.S. – as well as the key states of the region - not only Saudi Arabia and Turkey, but also Egypt, Iran, Qatar, UAE and Jordan.
