YEREVAN. – The Eurasian Economic Union member countries had to adopt rules for mutual recognition of fineness of precious metals long ago, chairman of the Armenian jewelers' union Emil Grigoryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

The matter was discussed back in 2013 when Yerevan hosted representatives of Russia's Finance Ministry, but the final decision has not been made so far.

“It is a complicated issue, but it needs a solution. If we decided to create a common market, in particular common jewelry market, this is a number one issue. Even tax issues do not worry us as much as this problem,” Grigoryan said.

According to him, the re-branding in Russia takes a lot of time, so delays in the sale and receiving of working capital.

“Only 10 days are spent on hallmark on the gold. If you want the goods to pass quicker, you need to pay the VAT directly on the border. Naturally, within the framework of the Eurasian Union, we would like to sell products easier – this is the reason for which it was created,” Grigoryan said, expressing hope that the problem will be solved by the end of this year.
