YEREVAN. - Adoption of stance unacceptable for one of the parties in the process of Karabakh talks is unlikely. French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier told the aforementioned to Azatutyun, adding that as an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing country, France will exert every effort to resolve the conflict through peaceful negotiations.

Referring to the article published by Russian Komersant, according to which the possibility of territorial concession is discussed with the Armenian side, the Ambassador said: “The Minsk Group is working on the proposals made. Apparently, many opinions and proposals were expressed, and lots of information entered into circulation at hearsay level, especially among the public circles. I don’t want to comment on different conjectures which are circulated today. I’ll only say the following: the main approach is to reach a settlement which will be acceptable for both sides. It’s perhaps out of the question that we will adopt a stance, conjecture or hypothesis, which is unacceptable for one of the parties.”

Responding to the opinion that the Azerbaijani ruling elite says that the OSCE Minsk Group isn’t effective, and France, as a Co-Chairing country, isn’t impartial, Ambassador Charpentier said: “Firstly, I don’t agree that everyone in that country is of that opinion. And, by the way, the Minsk Group has a unique OSCE mandate, which gives it the authority to act. As far as I know, currently the OSCE Minsk Group format is not subject to changes. Everyone is free to think the way they want. Today we are still on the hearsay level.”
