Maternity hospital workers of the Central Regional Hospital N 2 of Tuapse town in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, where 24-yearold Yana Plaksiya died, didn’t tell her family about the incident.

“No one informed us about the death of Yana. No one,” mother of the dead Armenian woman, Manushak Mekonyan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

According to Yana’s elder sister, Valentina, when they came to the hospital with Yana’s husband Vladimir to learn about her sister’s condition, they weren’t let in.

“Only Vova was allowed to enter. I couldn’t help but run in. Then I saw him crying.  First I thought something was wrong with the child, but then they said Yanochka was dead. We inquired on what had happened. They said Yana is already in Tuapse’s mortuary. We immediately went to the morgue, where we were told her body hadn’t been taken there. We returned; she was still in the hospital,” Valentina said.

The relatives of the young woman still can’t find out what happened in the maternity hospital on December 2. Manushak talked to her daughter’s doctor Larisa Arakelova, who didn’t give her precise explanations on the incident.

“She told by minutes and hours what she did on December 2 [but] answered to all the other questions with silence. My daughter had a strong belly-ache; she was injected Tramal and left. Little later she died from anaphylactic shock. Alone,” Manushak said.

A criminal case has already been launched into the death of the maternity patient under Article 109 (2) of the Russian Criminal Code.

Doctor Larisa Arakelova has been discharged from employment. Chief physician has taken a vacation.

“The maternity hospital is closed for cleaning or renovation; it’s unclear what the matter is,” Manushak said.

Yana married Vladimir Plaksiya 4 years ago. After a year, the young couple had a son, Tigran. The baby is already 3 years old. And on December 2, the family was expecting the birth of their daughter Emilia.

“Neither my Yana, nor Emilia are alive now. We buried them in one coffin,” Manushak said.
