Finance Minister of Germany Wolfgang Schäuble proposed to cover the expenses related to migration crisis by introducing a tax on petrol, Gazeta reports, citing Spiegel.
“I said that if the national budgets and EU budget lack means, let's agree that we will, for instance, impose certain tax for each liter of petrol,” he said in an interview with Suddeutsche Zeitung.
According to him, strengthening of the external borders of Schengen zone cannot be cancelled because of the lack of means.
“If someone isn't ready to pay, we will form a coalition of volunteers,” Schäuble noted.
