YEREVAN. – The Armenian National Assembly (NA) delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has done everything to achieve success at the forthcoming PACE winter session that will be convened in Strasbourg, France.

Opposition Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP and member of the said delegation, Vahan Babayan, noted about the aforementioned at a press conference on Tuesday. 

He stated this reflecting on the two anti-Armenian resolutions that will be put to a vote on January 26, at the PACE winter session. They are PACE MP Robert Walter’s (UK) report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” and PACE MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”

“These anti-Armenian reports are unprecedented, and they are contrary to the format of the [OSCE] Minsk Group and the issues of settlement of the Karabakh conflict,” Babayan said. “The reports are incomplete in legal and political terms. The reports also violate the basic principles of the PACE charter. PACE is manifesting a one-sided approach.”

In the PAP deputy’s words, members of the NA delegation to PACE and the Armenian MPs have exerted every effort to be able to prevent all negative occurrences.

“[But] PACE is a political platform where the Azerbaijani lobby works in the known way, and attempts to keep certain [PACE] MPs under a specific influence,” Vahan Babayan added. “This is diplomacy, foreign policy.”
