YEREVAN. - Finance Ministry of Armenia and the French Development Agency (AFD) will sign an agreement on raising the efficiency of farmland irrigation in Ararat valley on January 26.

This 75 million euro program will create opportunities for about 4500 agricultural workers to improve the rural production and incomes, particularly through the construction of Vedi reservoir with the capacity of 29 million cu m and ancillary buildings. It will also enable restoring and expanding the perimeter of irrigated lands for 3220 ha and will increase the capacity of irrigation water for consumers, representatives of the French Embassy in Armenia told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

This project, implemented in the framework of the protocol on Cooperation between the AFD and Economy Ministry of Armenia is the first one since the activity of AFD in Armenia.
