YEREVAN. – If the anti-Armenian reports are adopted at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on January 26, there may be tension between the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group and the Council of Europe (CoE).

Secretary of the Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) National Assembly Faction, Gagik Melikyan, expressed such a view at a press conference on Friday.

“In recent times, especially against the backdrop of strained Russian-Ukrainian relations, the Council of Europe has become [more] active by adopting such reports,” Melikyan said: “The European council should have known that there is one other organization—the OSCE Minsk Group—to which the resolution of the Karabakh issue is reserved.”

Two anti-Armenian resolutions will be put to a vote on January 26 at the forthcoming PACE Winter Session. They are PACE MP Robert Walter’s (UK) report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” and PACE MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”
