Shifting of Karabakh issue to other platforms or carrying out parallel processes can harm the efforts of the mediators. Armenia’s Deputy FM Garen Nazarian, who took part in the 16th meeting of the Armenian-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee held in Strasbourg on January 20-21. The co-chairmen of the Committee are Armenian MP Samvel Farmanyan and European Parliament member Sajjad Karim. Armenian and European Parliament MPs, as well as representatives of MFAs, took part in the meeting.

According to the working tradition, Mr Nazarian presented the Committee members the approaches and stance of Armenia on the present condition and prospects of Armenia-EU talks round the new framework agreement, revision of the European Neighborhood Policy, international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, regional developments and other issues, Armenian MFA press-service reports.

He also underscored the importance of the consistent support of the EU to the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group, stressing that the shifting of the Karabakh issue to other platforms or carrying out of parallel processes can harm the efforts of the mediators and imperil the regional stability.

Mr Nazarian highly appreciated the resolution adopted by the European Parliament and member states of the organization on occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. He touched on the issue of the migrants who have arrived in Armenia from Syria, urging the European partners to support the efforts of the Armenian authorities aimed at the social and economic integration of the refugees.

This and a number of other issues were included in the final statement adopted by the end of the meeting.
