Presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro had a phone conversation today.  The presidents discussed the situation on global oil market, the Kremlin press-service reports.   

“The two leaders discussed the current situation on the global oil market and ongoing development of bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic areas,” the message reads.

Earlier, Venezuela had directed a letter to the OPEC member-states, urging them to call an extraordinary session, Interfax reports. According to the letter, the continuing fall of oil prices harms the economies of more sensitive states included in the cartel.
