YEREVAN. – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), by disregarding the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) fundamental principles, has adopted a specific course. 

Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan, Ambassador Andrey Sorokin, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.

Sorokin noted this commenting on the query as to whether the PACE-adopted resolution regarding the Sarsang Reservoir would undermine the ongoing Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, which is conducted within the format of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The OSCE official recalled that the PACE was considering two very unpleasant and severe anti-Armenian resolutions, one of which was managed to be removed from the agenda, and this development can be considered a victory.

PACE on Tuesday voted against MP Robert Walter’s (UK) anti-Armenian report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan,” but adopted MP Milica Marković’s (Bosnia and Herzegovina) anti-Armenian report about Sarsang Reservoir in Nagorno-Karabakh, and entitled “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water.”

To note, representatives of the PACE Unified European Left Group, the Socialist Group, and the European People’s Party voted against both anti-Armenian reports.
