Health Minister of Lithuania Rimantė Šalaševičiūtė is ready to submit her resignation after being required to do so by the President and PM of the country, local lrt.lt news portal reports.

“I’ll write a resignation which I’ll submit personally to the PM, and will wait until he decides,” the Minister told LRT.

Earlier, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė and PM Algirdas Butkevičius, demanded the resignation of Ms Rimantė Šalaševičiūtė after she confessed live that that several years ago she bribed a medical personnel.

In a radio interview, Šalaševičiūtė said that “five or six years ago” she also “took an envelope,” when her relative needed medical assistance, Verslo zinios reports.

“I think in this situation the Minister must resign,” President Dalia Grybauskaitė said, commenting on the Health Minister’s words.

According to the PM, Šalaševičiūtė should resign on hew own, and if she doesn’t do that  the decision on this will be taken by the Social Democratic Party, which is composed of both the Health Minister and PM.

Šalaševičiūtė has been the Lithuanian Health Minister since 14 July 2014.
