The regress in Turkey has reached such a level that academics calling for peace are considered criminals, Rıza Türmen, former Turkish judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) said.

The ex-judge slammed the policy of the Turkish authorities, T24.com reports. He stressed that the government thinks the more people it kills, the more it will win. Mr Türmen considered a legal scandal the incriminatory report against the journalists, who stated about Turkey’s delivery of weapons to Syria.

“Wishing peace is already considered a crime in Turkey. In recent years, Turkey has been turning from an authoritarian regime to a fascist one,” Rıza Türmen concluded.
