Further strengthening the independence of Karabakh is one of the important aspects of our national demands.

Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Aram I, noted the aforesaid at the final session of the congress that was held in the Antelias Mother Seat—in Lebanon—of the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, and which was devoted to the evaluation of the Armenian Genocide Centennial.

He urged not to forget that some of Armenia’s neighbors constantly think about recapturing Karabakh.

“Let’s not forget that even the countries considered being our friend, proceeding from their geopolitical interests, don’t have an approach so favorable for us regarding the resolution of the Karabakh conflict. Therefore, we need to be alert,” Catholicos Aram I stressed. “Our [Armenian] people’s physical presence in Karabakh is imperative. The strengthening of our brave army in Karabakh is the primary duty of us all. Against the ample material or military opportunities the others have, we [i.e. the Armenians] have the courage of our young soldiers, and the full support of our nation.”
