YEREVAN. – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will allocate a US$1.85 million-grant to Armenia, and for the social protection of children.
The plan for the spending of this grant was approved at Thursday’s meeting of the Armenian Cabinet.
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Artem Asatryan, informed that the objective of this 1 million 848 thousand-dollar grant program will be to create alternative social services for children, and in places where it will be possible to replace the keeping of children in orphanages—and pursuant to the Armenian government policy of returning children to homes and placing them in families, as much as possible.
