A Turkish mayor, who is Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) member, has turned a 150-year-old Armenian church into a wedding salon.  

Upon the initiative of Mayor of Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district, Ahmet Misbah Demircan, an Armenian protestant church built in the 1850s has been turned into a wedding salon with a health center in its neighborhood, Sozcu reports.

Member of Istanbul’s Municipality City Council, Hussein Sagi, announced that Mayor of Beyoğlu shows a great disrespect to the the 150-year-old religious building by turning it into an entertainment venue. Therefore, he urged to repair the church and return it to its owners.
