France didn’t provide any sponsorship to the actions held by Azerbaijan over the 1992 Agdam events.

The Co-chairs of the Co-ordination Council of Armenian Organisations of France (CCAF) Ara Toranian and Mourad Papazian met with Jean-Marc Todeschini, French Minister of State for Veterans, on Monday to discuss the attempt of the Azerbaijani Embassy in France to turn the ceremony of flame rekindling under the Arc de Triomphe on February 26 into an Azerbaijani propaganda, French Armenian Nouvelles d’Arménie newspaper reports.

CCAF co-chairs condemned the Azerbaijani manipulation and using of the French veteran’s traditions for an anti-Armenian propaganda.

Mr Todeschini expressed regret over the use of this propaganda trick by Baku, stressing that France in no way sponsors such activities.

He also added that the Arc de Triomphe Committee of the Flame is a self-governed body, and thus didn’t notify the government on holding such an event.

As a result of the meeting, it became apparent for the participants that the Azerbaijani diplomacy had tried to carry out a propaganda trick through such an action to create an illusion of the French state’s treatment within certain audience.

After the meeting, the co-chairs were convinced that the Arc de Triomphe Committee of the Flame was informed about the necessity to be more vigilant in the future.

According to Nouvelles d’Arménie, the co-chairs sent a letter French MP Manuel Valls condemning the anti-Armenian event and noting the unacceptability of such events.
