YEREVAN. – We hope that the new election code of Armenia will be able to resolve the most important matter: the creation of a climate of trust in the country.

Barbara Davis, Head at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Office in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, stated the above-said at Friday’s public debate on the draft  Electoral Code of the country.

In her words, this was the key emphasis of the last three reports by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

The Armenian National Assembly will soon start deliberations on the draft Electoral Code, which has been sent to the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) of the Council of Europe, for expert opinion.

Pursuant to this draft law, parliamentary elections will be single and nationwide in the country.

The new Electoral Code shall be adopted by June 1.
