Glendale Unified School District passed a resolution to mark April 24th as “Day of Commemoration for the Armenian Genocide,” reported the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA).

Glendale, California, will be first US city to have all of its schools closed in honor of that day.

“This is a great day for ‪‎HyeTad [i.e. the Armenian Cause] and all those who fight for justice and the memory of those we lost during the ‪Armenian Genocide,” the respective ANCA statement reads.

American Armenian Ara Najarian is the current mayor of Glendale.
