Germany has temporarily closed its embassy in Ankara because of the threat of a possible imminent attack. Besides, the German school in Istanbul has also been closed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany said.

In response to a request for DW the German Foreign Ministry clarified that this is a precautionary measure due to the emergence of information about potential threat that has not been conclusively verified yet.

Earlier, on March 15, the German Embassy in Ankara warned the German citizens about probability of new terrorist attacks in Turkey and advised to return home whenever it is possible.

Last week, on March 13, a suicide car bombing killed 37 people and more than 120 were injured in Ankara. Prior to that, on January 12, as a result of the terrorist attack ten German tourists were killed in Istanbul.
