The European Union urges the UN member states to impose sanctions on Russia, says the statement of EU High Representative Federica Mogherini on Crimea that is published on the website of foreign service, Gazeta reported.

The document states that the EU remains firmly committed to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and does not recognize Crimea's accession to Russia.

“The European Union reiterates that it does not recognise and continues to condemn this violation of international law. It remains a direct challenge to international security, with grave implications for the international legal order that protects the unity and sovereignty of all states,” the statement says.

Meanwhile, it noted that the EU will continue to adhere to fully implementing its non-recognition policy, including through restrictive measures.
