Greek MFA: Turkey must abandon its obsessions and come to terms with its historical record

Turkey appears to believe that if history does not agree with its claims, so much the worse for history. 

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Konstantinos Koutras told the aforementioned in response to Turkey’s criticism over the visit of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to Greece and corresponding statements on the results of the meeting with Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos and PM Alexis Tsipras regarding the Armenian and Greek Genocide.

“This is too precarious a time for cheap and hypocritical rhetoric.Obviously, the Republic of Turkey must abandon its obsessions and come to terms with its historical record. Greece will be at Turkey’s side in this difficult task,” Konstantinos Koutras said, the Greek MFA press-service reports.  

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Tanju Bilgiç, earlier issued a statement expressing great concern that in their talks with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who paid a visit to Greece, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and President Prokopis Pavlopoulos criticized Turkey for denying the Armenian Genocide. Tanju Bilgiç, expressed an apparent discomfort by the Armenia-Greece friendship relations.
