France has strengthened security measures on the borders amid "extremely high" terrorism threat after the arrest of Salah Abdeslam suspected in the November terrorist attacks in Paris.

It was declared by the Interior Minister of France Bernard Cazeneuve on the TF1 TV channel, radio International French RFI stated.

Bernard Cazeneuve has clarified that additional five thousand people have been sent to the police officers who are on duty on borders. This measure has been adopted, taking into account the information provided by Interpol.

The head of the department also said, that after the restoration of control on French borders on November 13, about six million people were checked, and ten thousand out of them were denied entry to France.

After the of arrest Salah Abdeslam in the Brussels commune of Molenbeek, Interpol urged extra vigilance at border controls to its 190 member countries, to prevent Abdeslam’s possible accomplices  escape.
