YEREVAN. - We condemn the actions of Azerbaijan on the border, Deputy Speaker of Israeli Knesset, Tali Ploskov, said at a briefing today.

“Yesterday we paid tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide. As I mentioned yesterday, we urge to stop the blasts in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). We all need peace today - both the individuals and the states. The nation can develop only in peaceful conditions,” Ploskov said, adding that Armenia and Israel share many similarities.

“We are connected with both the past and the present. It’s not calm in Israel either. Of course, there is no war, but the situation is the same. Despite all the difficulties, our states remain strong and continue to struggle and exist,” she said.

President of the Jewish community in Armenia, Rima Varzhapetyan, expressed hope that their voice will also join the calls of all the leaders of other states who stand for peace.

Issues related to the Armenian-Jewish cultural ties were also discussed at the briefing. Ploskov highly appreciated the fact that Armenia regularly hosts concerts of Jewish composers. She was happy to invite the Armenian artists to Israel to take part in the upcoming festival.
