YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily newspaper has clear information that Kazakhstan, which also chairs the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) at present, was strongly against holding the EAEU prime ministers’ summit in Armenia, according to the daily.

“It, as always, did not wish to offend its ‘little’ brother, [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev, [who] already has recorded a big fiasco in the Karabakh front. Moreover, it [i.e. Kazakhstan] hoped that, with this, it also would obstruct [Russian PM Dmitry] Medvedev’s [forthcoming] visit to Armenia.

“[But] Armenia’s ‘powerful’ strategic partner, Russia, decided to resolve the matter with ‘parity.’ After EAEU-CSTO [i.e. Collective Security Treaty Organization] member Armenia, it will ‘send’ Medvedev (…) [also] to Turkey’s warm friendly Azerbaijan,” Hraparak daily wrote.
