YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who also heads the Armenian NA delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA), on Thursday had a telephonic conversation with chairman of the CSTO PA Council and chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Sergei Naryshkin.

The Armenian NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the interlocutors discussed the present-day situation at the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact, and considered the attempts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by military means to be impermissible.

Deputy speaker of the Armenian parliament noted that Azerbaijan’s military actions are an overt aggression against the people of Karabakh. Also, Sharmazanov condemned Turkey’s statements that support the  terrorist policy of Azerbaijan. He stressed that the international community needs to issue targeted and condemning statements.

Eduard Sharmazanov noted that, despite the recent agreement that was reached to cease fire, Azerbaijan launched a reconnaissance-sabotage operation in the early morning hours on Thursday.

Naryshkin, for his part, noted that Russia, as an Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group co-chairing country, has an interest in the pacific resolution of the Karabakh conflict, and within the Minsk Group format.
