YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Monday received a delegation, led by director general Bishar Abdirahman Hussein of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Bureau.

The guests are in Armenia to attend the Association of the European Public Postal Operators (PostEurop) regular conference, which will be convened in capital city Yerevan.

Sargsyan underscored UPU’s role in the development of global communications. He noted that Armenia is a member in the large universal postal family for about 25 year, and stressed that this has greatly contributed to the development and modernization of postal service in the country. Also, the President considered the holding of the aforesaid conference in Yerevan to be a good opportunity to get more closely familiarized with the respective accomplishments of Armenia.

Hussein, for his part, presented the objective of the PostEurop conference in Yerevan, and the mission of the organization he heads. He assured that UPU stands ready to continue assisting HayPost, the national postal operator of Armenia.
