YEREVAN. – Lithuania’s only wish is that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict sides quickly return to the negotiating table, and it is indispensable that the bloodshed is stopped as soon as possible, Lithuanian Ambassador to Armenia Erikas Petrikas told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Reflecting on Baku’s numerous violations of international humanitarian law, and during which the Azerbaijan armed forces opened fire against Armenian civilians and brutally killed elderly residents in Talish village of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh), the ambassador said: “Lithuania’s [respective] position is expressed in the statement by country’s FM Linas Linkevičius, immediately after these events. He expressed concern and condolences in connection with what occurred. We closely follow all developments, and we inform our countries about it.”

To the remark that it is time to make specific and targeted statements to prevent the actions by the aggressor—Azerbaijan—, Ambassador Petrikas responded: “Lithuania is one of the 28 EU member states; this is done at the level of the EU and NATO. (…). We are concerned, and we believe that the [Karabakh] issue can be resolved solely by way of the OSCE [i.e. the Security and Co-operation in Europe] Minsk Group, and peace talks.”
