VIENNA. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is on a working visit to Austria, met with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry Monday.

The sides discussed ways out of the situation ensued as a result of the gross violation of ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone in early April. Attaching importance to the statement of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs made on May 12, President Sargsyan noted that the full implementation of the agreements on ceasefire (1994) and reinforcement of ceasefire regime (1995), as well as immediate introduction of investigation mechanisms of ceasefire violations are necessary for the resumption of talks.

Stressing the fact that the meeting has been initiated by the foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, Sargsyan expressed hope that they will show the same consistency, contributing to creating favorable conditions for resuming the talks through their targeted stance and specific steps.

The sides reconfirmed that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has no military solution and mechanisms of mutually acceptable solution should be found on the basis of fundamental principles.
