The largest U.S. network of household goods Home Depot filed a lawsuit against Visa and MasterCard, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Home Depot accuses payment service of a corporate conspiracy to prevent the introduction of debit and credit card transactions with a microchip, as well as of violation of US antitrust laws.
WSJ explains that check using the microchip is much more safe and secure, but less profitable for Visa and MasterCard, which established a higher rate for card transactions, certified personal signature.
The headquarters of both companies-operators of payment systems confirmed that they are aware of Home Depot claims. Visa intends to achieve transfer of the lawsuit from district court in Georgia Court to New York Brooklyn Court, where similar complaints by Target and 7-Eleven stores are being studied.
