At least 15 people died from suffocation in a truck. The incident occurred in the province of Luapula, in the north of Zambia, Lusakatimes.com reported.
There were mostly citizens of Somalia in the truck. The vehicle, probably was coming from Tanzania, the final destination is unknown.
According to the one of survivors, they were replaced from one truck into another, which has not been equipped with ventilation. In total 50 people were in the closed back of the truck. They were hidden behind bags with beans and peanuts
Locals say that they forced the driver to open the truck when heard the knock reaching from within. The driver, who was trying to flee the scene, is detained in the neighboring Congo.
According to the estimates of various human rights organizations, 700,000 to 4,000,000 people are Trafficked in the world annually. More than 12 million are in actual slavery.
