Two hostages who were taken by an inmate at a prison in northwestern France were released after intervention by security forces , French Minister of Justice Jean-Jacques Urvoas stated, BBC reported.
According to him, the situation with the capture in a prison of Le Mans-Les was resolved, thanks to the professionalism of the prison officers. Urvoas has not revealed any details of the release.
Earlier it was reported that one of the prisoners took hostage a cellmate and a prison officer at Le Mans prison in the town of Cuilén in France. According to the French media, prisoner taking hostages was accused of drug trafficking and demanded transfer to another prison.
