The monsoon floods in India's Ganges River this year have broken previous records, BBC reported.
The highest record was in Patna, the state capital of Bihar where flood waters reached 50.52m on 26 August, up from 50.27m in 1994.
More than 150 people were killed and thousands remained homeless as a result of this year floods in India.
The third largest river in the world flows through these north Indian states meeting its tributaries before emptying into the Bay of Bengal.
Some experts consider the reason of floods is silt carried by the water of the Ganges.
According to them, silt destroys coast and water freely floods settlements and agricultural grounds, adjacent to the river.
