Lawsuit against rise in gas price filed by the Armenian National Congress (ANC) is in the appeal court, ANC member, former Yerevan mayor Vahagn Khachatryan told the journalists today.
According to him, Armenian authorities could prevent rise in gas price. “Price rise in Armenia is unfounded. It was a deal between the Armenian authorities and ArmrusGazprom, as a result both will get additional money. The Armenian citizens, having worth average standard of living than Europeans, have to pay for gas as much as they do. It is unacceptable. In many Armenian villages supplied with gas, the residents use gas only to make coffee and heat meals,” he said. The only way out is to improve economic system that is impossible without changes in political system, he added. According to him, there is a social protest in society. However, the authorities do not pay attention. “In fact, we are supporting the authorities rather than vice versa,” he concluded.
