The court of Thailand finds the British human rights’ activist Andy Hall guilty of defamation and cyber crime , sentences him to 3 years’ of  imprisonment, and fines $ 4.3 million, reports the BBC.

Hall, who resides in Thailand, was fighting for the rights of hired workers. He published materials about unsatisfactory working conditions in various companies of the country. In 2013 he was a co-publisher of the report on the working conditions of one of the largest enterprises in Thailand Natural Fruit, engaged in production of canned pineapple. 

The Natural Fruit has accused the British activist of defamation, demanding $300 million as a compensation . Since the report was published on the web, Holly was also accused of cybercrime together with defamation charges.   According to human rights activists , the rights of migrant workers in Thailand are being flagrantly violated. The large companies use the law on defamation to silence those who oppose their policy .
