The prosecutors’ office of Germany dropped the criminal case against comedian Jan Boehmermann, filed for the poem that had ‘insulted’ the Turkish President Erdogan, reports the BBC Russian Service. According to the prosecutor's office in Mainz, there are no sufficient grounds to continue the investigation.

In late March, Jan Boehmermann criticized the Turkish government's policy in ZDF television channel reading a satirical poem. In response, Ankara announced that the poem was insulting for the head of the state.  At the same time, Erdogan, applied to Mainz’ prosecutor's office. The German authorities had later agreed to institute legal proceedings. Boehmermann did not consider himself as guilty.
