YEREVAN. – Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian on Wednesday met with Johannes Singhanmer, Vice President of the German Bundestag (parliament).

Welcoming the German legislative delegation’s visit to Armenia, the FM noted that such frequent visits attest to the activeness and importance of parliamentary diplomacy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Nalbandian added that an effective cooperation has been established.

Separately, he thanked the Bundestag for adopting the resolution that recognizes and condemns Armenian Genocide.

Edward Nalbandian also recorded that Germany is the third largest trading and economic partner of Armenia, and the first among the European Union (EU) member countries.

Singhanmer, in turn, presented the objective of the German parliamentarians’ visit to Armenia, and the results of their talks in the country.

At the request of the guests, FM Nalbandian spoke about Armenia-EU relations, and the ongoing respective talks.

He also presented Armenia’s outlook on several regional processes.

Furthermore, Edward Nalbandian briefed the Bundestag delegation on the ongoing efforts—by Armenia and the co-chairing countries (Russia, US, and France) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group—to eliminate the consequences of the military aggression which Azerbaijan had unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), in early April, and to achieve a pacific resolution to the Karabakh conflict.
