YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Galust Sahakyan, on Thursday received Swedish Armenian Esabelle Dingizian, who is Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag (parliament) of Sweden.

Sahakyan highlighted the expansion of cooperation with the Scandinavian region, especially with Sweden, and the comprehensive interparliamentary contacts, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

As per the NA speaker, however, there still is work to be done to further deepen cooperation. In this context, Sahakyan welcomed the activities of the friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries, and expressed the hope that new avenues for cooperation will be indicated in future.

Also, the chairman of the Armenian parliament highly assessed Sweden’s assistance to the democratic processes in Armenia, and reaffirmed the latter’s readiness to continue and deepen constructive dialogue between the two countries.

In addition, Galust Sahakyan expressed his gratitude to Dingizian for her great contribution to the recognition of Armenian Genocide.

Esabelle Dingizian, for her part, underscored the productive Armenian-Swedish parliamentary cooperation. The deputy speaker of the Swedish parliament also assured that she will contribute to the further strengthening and deepening of relations between the two countries.

At the ensuing talk, the parties discussed several other matters of bilateral interest.
