Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag Norbert Röttgen said that Germany can indeed impose sanctions against Russia because of the situation in Syria, Kommersant  reported quoting Suddeutsche Zeitung.

Röttgen considered that lack of reciprocal actions and sanctions in response to the hardest war crimes would have led to a scandal.

He believes that Russia was undoubtedly guilty of serious war crimes. According to the politician, economic sanctions would not work at once but in the long term would influence policy of Moscow.
