Parliamentary elections in the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara,Georgia, will take place on Saturday.

The polling stations will open at 07:00 am, but due to the preparations for voting, the voters will be able to participate in the elections starting from 08:00 am. The voting will last till 8:00 pm, Georgia-online reports.

According to the manner established by law, each voter shall cast a vote individually: it is not allowed to vote instead of others.

The elections will be held by a mixed system: 77 deputies will be elected according to party lists (proportional election system), while 73 of them will be elected in single-seat polling stations (majority election system), the newspaper notes.

The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, David Usupashvili, noted that “stemming from the electoral system and existing balance between the political forces,” the second round of elections will possibly be held in many majority constituencies, since none of the candidates will be able to win 51 percent of votes in the first round. Usupashvili also noted that “the political composition of the new parliament” will not be clear immediately after the voting on Saturday. The results will be clear after the second round in majority constituencies.
