The South Africa police used tear gas, rubber bullets, and water cannons to disperse students’ demonstration against increasing fees in the universities.  The initiative is taking place in Johannesburg, in the vicinity of one of the largest universities of the country. As the AP reports the protesters, who gathered at the square next to the  University of Witwatersran, began throwing stones.

When the university staff suggested to start negotiations, they responded with threats. The Minister of Education Blade Nzimande has called on protestors for a dialogue and condemned the violence. The protests in the South Africa have been going on for over a month. Despite the efforts of the Government, which has agreed to take over a part of the costs of poor students, the protests do not subside. They demand the authorities to put an end to the economic inequality in the country's educational system, which is a consequence of the policy of apartheid, reports the AP.
