There have been killed 12 Egyptian soldiers due to clashes with Islamists in the Sinai Peninsula. Six soldiers are wounded, as informs a representative of the Egyptian army. The soldiers killed 15 militants, who attacked the checkpoint located at 40 km from Bir el Abd (in the North Sinai state), reports the BBC.
The conflict between the Egyptian soldiers and insurgents in the Sinai Peninsula intensified in the past two years. In 2014, the local Islamic group sworn loyalty to the Islamic state.
