A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake hit Fukushima Prefecture, Japan as a result of which more than 3,100 people left their homes, TASS reported.

About 60 temporary camps are equipped for evacuees. At the same time about 150 schools are closed in coastal areas of Honshu Island.

According to Minister of State for Disaster Management Jun Matsumoto, the earthquake and the subsequent tsunami did not cause significant damages or casualties.
