The Moscow City Court has refused to lift seizure of property belonging to Armenian businessman Levon Airapetyan, who was sentenced to four years in prison for embezzlement.

Airapetian’s apartment and bank accounts were seized, charges of fraud being brought against him, Rosbalt reports.

Earlier, Airapetyan was sentenced to four years in prison for stealing $700,000 from the mother of former Bashkortostan senator Igor Izmestyev sentenced to life for terrorism. The senator demanded that the businessman be sentenced to seven years in prison.

According to the investigation, in 2010, Airapetian along with his attorney Sergey Antonov misled the mother of the ex-senator, Tamar Izmestyev, by promising a reduced sentence for her son for money.
