Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze during his visit to Yerevan Sept. 4 commented on RA President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement concerning the status of Armenian language in Georgia.

“You know that the Georgian side considers and respects all statements that have been made in Yerevan. The Armenian President did not say that Armenian should become a regional language. He said the idea was worth discussing. We are ready to discuss any proposals of our Armenian partners. I would like to emphasize that, regardless of the status the Armenian language may have in Georgia, Georgian citizens of Armenian origin are protected, have equal rights that secured along with those of other national minorities residing in Georgia. For us they are an integral part of our history and culture,” Vashadze stated today.
